Chinese domain name scam
I'm seeing quite a few of these spammy little gems arriving in both mine and my customers inboxes from our friends in China lately:
This is Beijing Erimat Network Information Technology Co., Ltd, domain name registrant in China. A formal application dated on May 6th from one company called Guangyuan Investment (China) Co., Ltd requested "YOUR DOMAIN NAME" as their Chinese top-level domain name(.cn/.hk.tw) and internet keyword. Due to the possibility of involving your company name or trade mark, we bring this into your attention immediately in view of your priority and IPR according to the registration procedure. Please contact us for protective prior registration of those domains or learning more about it.
If its not patently obvious to anybody this is a scam designed to frighten you into buying domain names and/or trademarks that you don't necessarily need, and probably at vastly inflated prices.
If you get one of these, then just ignore it. Altough, I have to admit that when I got my first one of these it did prompt me to buy our .cn, but not from these spam mongers. It cost a whole 20 pence, yes that's twenty English pence, 0.2 Great British Pounds or 2.73 RMB for the first year. Try getting that sort of price from 1-2-3Reg or any other domain seller. I love finding cheap domain names.

Stumble It!
